Slovakia-Language

Of the 5.4 m population of Slovakia, 85% speak one of the three Slovak dialects - Central, Western and Eastern Slovak - as their first language. However, there is an "official" Slovak language being taught at school. These dialects are mutually intelligible. Minority languages are predominantly spoken in the south of the country, and include Hungarian (10% of the entire population), and in lesser numbers Romani, Czech, Ukrainian, German and Polish.
